First UK issue without publishing credit at the bottom of the rear sleeve; an "All songs published by E.G. Music Ltd © 1973" declaration was later added under the David & Mark credit. 

This version has the following distinguishing attributes:

Pink-rimmed Island labels.
Rear sleeve has no "All songs published by E.G. Music Ltd © 1973" at bottom.
Rear sleeve has 'basing street london w11' beneath Island logo. 
Rear sleeve has no printer credit at bottom.
Spine is pinched at both ends.

Original inner sleeve of this first issue may be either: 
A) a generic white inner with slightly rounded corners and PATENT Nos.11255 55 MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN, or 
B) a printed inner with lyrics and graphics overprinted on one side of a generic white inner, with die-cut corners, flipback construction, and blue MADE IN ENGLAND and Patent number text. 

Some copies had an oval 'King Crimson' sticker on either their front sleeve or their shrinkwrap.
